Diversion Day
Allenspark Area Club / Boulder County
The Allenspark Area Club and Boulder County’s Resource Conservation Division are again holding the annual Diversion Day. This event collects numerous materials for recycling, diverting them from the landfill. This is part of the county’s Zero Waste initiative. More information is available at www.BoulderCountyRecycles.org or by calling 720-564-2220.
This event is for residential properties only. We cannot accept items from businesses, including lodging. The event will be held on Saturday August 10 from 9:00 AM until Noon. It is located in the lot between the Allenspark Osmun fire station and the transfer station. Enter on the side of the fire station.
Items to be collected at no charge are: (Please read carefully, we can only accept items listed.)
Appliances, including those containing CFCs (Freon) such as refrigerators and freezers.
Motor Oil
Antifreeze / coolant
Paint and Stain – Latex and Oil based.
Electronics
Mattresses and box springs
Cushions from couches and chairs
Tires – with or without wheels, pickup truck size maximum
Batteries – these include lead acid automotive type batteries, household types such as AAA, AA, C, D, rechargeable Ni Cad and Lithium.
Bicycles – New this year. Give your old bike a new life with Community Cycles in Boulder. Communitycycles.org Your old and unwanted bikes will be refurbished and put back where they belong – on the road with someone in need of a bike. They take “anything bike” – adult bikes, kids bikes, parts, tubes and tires. They’ll reuse what they can and recycle the rest, keeping tons of waste out of our landfills.
Trash can be deposited at the transfer station using the normal, daily services for the standard fees. As always, the transfer station will provide its regular service of scrap metal, cardboard, paper, aluminum, glass, steel and plastic collection for recycling.
The Diversion Day event is open to all residents and landowners within the Boulder County portion of the Allenspark Fire Protection District. Be sure to bring some ID to verify this. Utility bills work well for property owners whose primary residence is out of the area.
We will have helpers but if at all possible, please be prepared to unload your own vehicle.
See you there. Let’s keep making lots of new stuff out of old.
